Write about your reactions to the final part of Hamlet Essay Example for Free
Write about your reactions to the final part of Hamlet Essay At the start of the play we see Hamlet returning to Denmark from university, as he has heard the news of his farther, Old-Hamlets death. He arrives home perhaps thinking that he shall now take the place as the king of Denmark, only to discover that while he was away Claudius, his uncle and Gertrude, his mother have been wed. Therefore Claudius, not Hamlet, takes the place as King of Denmark. When Hamlet discovers this he becomes almost deranged, especially when Old-Hamlet appears to him in a form of a ghost, revealing that Claudius killed Old-Hamlet. This knowledge forces him to feel betrayed by all around him, such as the politicians that once supported his father and now show that same respect to Claudius. He feels that he can not trust his mother or Ophelia, his girlfriend. When travelling actors arrive Hamlet decides to put on a play to draw Claudius out, by seeing if he would react to a play about a brother killing a king to steal the crown. Claudius rushes out when the play is acted, showing that he is responsible for the killing of old-Hamlet. Hamlet follows quickly behind him and is about to strike Claudius down when he hears him committing his acts to god. Hamlet decides not to kill him, as when old-Hamlet was killed he did not have to commit his sins to god, so he was stuck in purgatory, a place where what you have done is weighted up, in good and bad to decide what will happen to them. Instead of killing Claudius he then proceeds to his mother to tell her of what he has found, hearing a sound he turns and thrusts a sword into a curtain, thinking that it was Claudius, only to discover that it was Polonius, Ophelias father, whom then dies. Claudius decides to send Hamlet to England to be killed, only to have Hamlet foil his plan. Hamlet returns to find while he has gone Ophelia has gone mad and has drowned her self, grief stricken he leaps into her grave. Laertes, Ophelias brother and Poloniuss son then challenges Hamlet to a duel which he Hamlet accepts. Laertes is then approached by Claudius who offers to fix the fight by poisoning his foils tip, Laertes grief stricken accepts this offer to revenge the two deaths in his family. The Ending of Hamlet sees the deaths of Laertes, Claudius, Gertrude and most importantly Hamlet. We also witness a change in the character of Hamlet, as he is now thinking less and acting more. He even mocks Laertes: Ill be your foil Laertes, in my ignorance your skill shall like astar i th darkest night stick fiery off indeed. In this scene we as an audience feel the dramatic tension, as we know all the traps lay in front of Hamlet, the poisoned foil of Laertes, and the cold goblet of wine poured by Claudius. Yet you find your self thinking that perhaps Hamlet knows that something is going on when he asks: These foils have all a length This is to command the attention of the audience to the poison tip of Laertes foil, which within the duel is held of to prolong the dramatic tension. This is the same way Hamlets action is held of with his obsession with procrastinating about the action which is to be taken to revenge his fathers death. This scene is made more dramatic by the frequent use of trumpets and kettle drums. The use of musical instruments in this way makes the environment appear more exciting. Hamlet tries to explain his actions of his recent self by asking give me your pardon sir, for I have done you wrong, but goes on to say it was not Hamlet, was his madness and also admits that his madness is poor Hamlets enemy. This excuse is not accepted by Laertes for in his terms of honour I stand aloof the only reason he is going along with the duel is to keep his name ungored, and also to revenge his fathers and sisters deaths. The use of language is of a high-class because the word ungored reminds us of the poisoned tip of the foil and what Laertes planes to do with it. Before the duel can start, Claudius plans to drink to Hamlets better breath, this is ironic as Claudius has already planed to poison Hamlets goblet of wine with a pearl. Claudius refers to this as a union, which could refer to the way in which old-Hamlet and Hamlet are to be killed, as old-Hamlet was also killed with poison that Claudius gave him. Claudius also performs this task to show the people around him that he is supporting Hamlet, so he is not thought to be guilty of Hamlets death. After the king drinks to Hamlet there is another out burst of sound as the trumpets are blown, this is also to add to the already excited atmosphere to start the duel. This leaves the audience knowing more than the victim. The next part of the text is split a series of short sentences, this is to create the speed of the duel and how the points are awarded by touches. The style of writing is used to build the dramatic tension between the two competitors. As you see Hamlet gaining the hits over Laertes, and with one hit left you start to think that Hamlet has foiled Claudiuss plan, and even avoids the poisoned goblet on two accounts. Mean while Claudius shows in this scene that he is now completely taking the place of his brother, as he speaks aside to Gertrude our son shall win. This small sentence shows what a twisted man he really is, as the words our son show as Hamlet is his brothers son and Claudius is only his uncle. Furthermore this shows that he is comfortable that his plan to poison Hamlet will be successful. Claudius is therefore shocked when Gertrude takes up Hamlets goblet to drink to him, Claudius then shouts to Gertrude, Gertrude do not drink. This line is probably by best line as it creates an atmosphere within the hall, as Claudius is pulled between saving his wife and not letting the hall of people know that he has poisoned Hamlets goblet of Hamlets wine, but in the end he is out for himself, as he does not take the goblet away from Gertrude. At this same point I think Gertrude believes all the things that Hamlet has told her earlier in the play and feels so bad that she drinks the poison, in a way this makes up for the betrayal that she committed towards her family and also the memory of Old-Hamlet. Again Hamlet dare not drink from his goblet as he wants to finish the duel first. This saves him from the poisoned goblet, therefore he only has one problem before him and thats Laertes revenge. Before the third round is started Laertes strikes out violently and wounds Hamlet, therefore poisoning him, yet to do so is almost against his conscience. In the incense of the fight, as it is no longer an honourable duel, the foils are swapped and Laertes tastes his own venom, he is justly killed by his own treachery. The Queen mean while is laid out on the floor with Claudius attending to her; she then calls out the truth about the drink! I am poisoned. At this point Hamlet knows that some treachery is around and he calls for all the doors to be locked and to seek it out. This again changes the mood of the hall and creates a room full of panic, as people are screaming and talking in worried voices. Laertes is the first to commit that he has wronged, Hamlet, thou art slain and that the treacherous instrument is in thy hand. Laertes also names who the blame should rest upon the King, the Kings to blame. At this point in the Branna film Hamlet troughs the foil at Claudius and wounds him. This causes another wave of panic to throng through the witnesses. Claudiuss last thought is for himself O yet defend me friends. This makes Hamlet angry and starts to make Claudius drink the poisoned goblet while saying all the sins Claudius has committed, incestuous, murderous, damned Dane. Again union is used to link Claudiuss death to Gertrudes, as he is united with her in death. This could also refer to the way both the brothers were killed with poison. The anger of Hamlet changes the atmosphere into a mute. Laertes then exchanges forgiveness with Hamlet, as Laertes dies. Hamlet is also feeling the poison within him as he admits to Horatio I am dead. He next turns to the rest of the witnesses in the hall; this is a much more kingly way to die thinking of his country and giving blessing to Fortinbras as the next king. When Fortinbras arrives there is once again a burst of sound, but this is not to stir excitement, it is more to command respect. When he enters he is met with the dead bodies of the royal family. When Hamlet is taken away he is carried like a soldier to the stage, as Fortinbras believes that Hamlet would have been a mighty king. I think this ending to Hamlet is a fitting ending to the play as it contains a lot of dramatic tension and a lot of action. This ending also contains a lot of honour with every thing that was wrong being righted.

The Competitiveness In The Food Industry Marketing Essay
The Competitiveness In The Food Industry Marketing Essay Melville, N. et al. (2004) defined the value of information technology in the organizations as the organizational performance impacts of information technology at both the intermediate process level and the organization-wide level, and comprising both efficiency impacts and competitive impacts. The company performance by using it could affect positively with the customers and with the competitors both at the mid level process and the organisational level process. Adding value to the business comes in the form of cost reduction and by improving the quality of customer service. What is cost reduction and how it could be achieved? The total expenditure of company for the purpose of maintaining its inventory management effectively, staffs work schedules and their salary records and relations with the customers. We could drastically reduce this cost by using customised software. By using IT we could implement effective software for track down of the inventory, thus it saves huge money for spending on man power. And even in customer service we could easily reduce the cost by proving a global call centre rather than manpower at each site. What is information technology? According to Hitt, L. Ms (1999) research, the information technology has been defined: as computers as well as related digital communication technology, it has the broad power to reduce the costs and save time for information processing. Information technology could help company in many ways, such as: Data resource management: Data resource management is managerial activity. It is useful in managing data sources between the company and its stake holders. Inventory management: By using specific software for the tracking products available in our storage area we could plan what we need for the day or for the coming days, and we can plan and interact with our suppliers and order for the raw material as accordingly. Customer relationship management: Normally called with acronym CRM is huge success when it comes to the interactions with the clients and customers. The primary purpose of the CRM is to track down the buying behaviour of the customers like what they are buying, which product is bought down by which age group, what type of products are selling in that particular area etc, etc, thus we can plan our business needs effectively. How this IT could useful in our particular company and how can we get competitive advantage with this? Our company: History: Nandosà is aà casual dining restaurantà founded in 1987 by Robert Brozin and Fernando Duarte fromà South Africaà with aà Portuguese/Mozambicanà theme. Nandos was Chickenlandà earlier and they renamed it to Nandos after Duarte. Nandos operates in 28 countries and on five continents.à It specializes inà chickenà dishes with either lemon and herb, medium, hot or extra hotà Peri-Perià marinades (properly known asà Galinha à Africana). In some countries, Nandos has other flavour options like mango and lime, lemon and herb, or Mediterranean. The restaurant incorporated influences from former Portuguese colonists fromà Mozambique, many of whom had settled on the south-eastern side of Johannesburg, after their homelands independence in 1975. It has branches all over the world. Primarily focused on English speaking countries now it spreads all over the world where the people prefer spicy chicken. It is famous for its peri-peri chicken which is its own brand. It has 230 branches across UK and it has nearly 6600 employed in all these branches. It primarily focus on its culture. It was awarded no. 1 in food industry by Sunday times. And it has an investor award. Task1: Porters five force model: File:Porters five forces.PNG A graphical representation of Porters Five Forces Bargaining power of supplier: the majority of supply is from Faccenda and Freemans of Newent and small supply from Holland and Germany. Nandos has its own name in the industry although it does matter the raw materials. As long as the supplier is happy with the business there would be no problem, the suppliers are pretty famous in their respective fields as they have very much contracts in their hands. Although We can say the bargaining power of the suppliers is low. The Nandos requires huge volumes of raw materials when one supplier step down another one could take up. And there are many suppliers available it would be easy to us to go for another supplier but it is not easy to supplier to loose Nandos. It is win- win situations Threat of new entrants: There is lot market for the food industry and particularly for chicken food as it widely eaten there so much scope for new markets. Nandos has its own name and it has niche market there and there would be no affect if any new restaurant comes in. Nandos is more concentrated on its culture and being best than the bigger it is very difficult to new entrants to compete with the Nandos. So we can say the threat of new entrants is comparatively low. Threat of substitute products or services: Items like Portuguese vinaigrette and some cooking sauces, pasta sauces could not stand in the market because of some brand companies in the particular item field. Instead Nandos concentrated on some other items like marinades and peri-peri sauces where it has its own influence. The price factor is very important to not to lose the customer. The customer always looks for the cheap price for the same product. Considering the food products of Nandos, they are pretty famous for its taste rather than cost thus we can say the threat is low. Bargaining power of customers: The power of customer is defined by the volume of them and their information like their age, sex and location etc.etc. Nandos has niche market which caters for the lovers of spicy food. These customers are generally young and adult. Nandos has its brand that their chicken is best in their competitors so the customer will not want to go for other restaurant. And there are not substitutes available with this spicy range with other restaurants we can confidently say that our customers bargaining power is low. Existing rivalry: If want to talk about the particular branch which is Stratford, Nandos we are dealing the primary competitors are The Fox, the Indian gate, Pizzahut, Carrebian scene and the Mukhan. All of these restaurants are highly preferable and they have their best in the particular food. We can say like Pizzahut is famous for its pizza, the Indian gateway for its Indian food although they provide chicken items. None of them are comparable when it comes to the spicy chicken or peri-peri chicken. Nandos provides huge range variety of products than to other competitors. The price options are also very reasonable when compare to the international brand like Pizzahut or very local The Indain gateway. Therefore we can say the the existing rivalry is low. The intensity of rivalry for Nandos is influenced by No of restaurants: increases rivalry because more restaurants must compete for the same customers and resources. The rivalry intensifies if the firms have similar market share, leading to a struggle for market leadership. Task 2: Value chain model: http://enduragement.files.wordpress.com/2008/06/porter-value-chain.png The Value Chain framework of Michael Porter is a model that helps to analyze specific activities through which firms can create value and competitive advantage. The value chain helps an organization identify how it creates value for customers and locate where its sources of competitive advantage lie. Value chain models can be created in both qualitative and quantitative forms. Many organizations do not consciously make decisions to optimize the sources of advantage resident in their value chain and in so doing, risk losing competitive advantage. What is Value Chain Analysis? A value chain is a chain of value added activities; products pass through the activities in a chain, gaining value at each stage. Value chain allows alignment of processes with customers. This generates a quality advantage. Value chain focuses cost management efforts. It provides for efficient processes which improves the timeliness of operations. The steps in Vaule chain model are: Inbound logistics: Inbound logistics of Nandos deals with receiving goods, storing them . for this we use an dinventory control management system. It deals with everything related to goods and its transportation. This inbound is very important to maintain the warehouse products available effectively without interrupting the business to customers. Outbound logistics: inbound logistics deals with the good coming upto the warehouse where as the outbound logistics deals with the products reaching to customers. Nandos has the dedicated transportation service to delivery its products to reach its restaurants on time. It uses PDAs to track down its vehicles on road where they are at particular time so the restaurants and head office knows when they will reach the destination. This allows the restaurants to plan accordingly. Marketing and sales: To attract customers Nandos approaches in very innovative yet cost effective manner. It provides customers to win prizes when the make orders at restaurants. Some of its promotions include gift cards, Go PERi-lectric with a pair of tickets to Irelands Electric Picnic, Brighton Pride and Win a PERi-tastic prize Tickets to the LED festival, Win A Footie Chicken-Fest etc, etc. And Nandos spend considerable amount of money to promote irs restaurants aggressively through print media and electroninc media. In 2010, Advertising Age magazine named Nandos as one of the worlds top 30 hottest marketing brands. Service: The service mainly here defined as the interaction with customers and the service we provide to them. The better the service the better the chances to increase its brand value. Procurement: Procurement mainly deals with the requirement of raw materials, space to setup restaurants, kitchen machinery etc. Technology Development: The technology development is to support value chain activities such as design, strategies and tactics , research and development, processing etc. We discuss about this in next task. Human Resource Management Human resource management is primarily associated with staff recruiting, staff schedules and salary maintenance and maintaining compensation and benefits to its employees and staff. Firm Infrastructure The infrastructure associates with hierarchical process of the firm. It Includes management, planning, finance, legal issues, public relations, accounting and quality management, etc. Task 3: How IT can be used to develop business: I will use Value Chain analysis to explain how IT help Nandos add value to themselves and obtain competitive advantage in food industry. Value Chain analysis consist of primary activities and support activities, which are detailed from below: The IT can be used to increases the knowledge of profit zones where there is no profit, It increases the knowledge of forward and/or backward integration opportunities, identifies value process and Identifies win-win alliance opportunities As consultant for Nandos restaurant we need to advise them to use value chain models for implementing cost comparison between the companies to other competitors. What is Strategy? And How Does Porters Value Chain Model Fit With Strategy? Strategy is your business direction; and the how, why, what, who and when of following that direction. Most businesses analyze their own internal cost structures but most do not analyze their competitors structures. The five Ps of nandos to follow to get competitive advantage are: Plan: Portugese chiken all over the world Ploy: not to face competitors but to find a strong market i.e. customers Position: best rather than biggest Pattern: culture Perspective: wants to develop in countries where chiken, spicy and English speaking customers You only get an edge over rivals by having or doing something that they cant have or do. Computers have revolutionized the food and beverage industry as they have nearly every other industry. A key management concern of any food and beverage business is the profit margin. In this vital area of business, computers have also proven to be an indispensable tool. Computer systems help manage the entire food service process from ordering the ingredients needed to produce menu items, to forecasting the amount of items to prepare for each dining period based on historical patterns. This helps to reduce wasted food, which is very expensive and comes out of the businesses profit. It also helps in preparing menu items before hand, which reduces customer wait time The information system should mention the following steps: People Data Networks, Hardware, Software. It costs us to implement any new information technologies in our system. So we have to analyse what is our need and how it would affect the system and how it drive the sales. No better understanding of the system will lead very bad results thus company should go to losses. The technologies we advice to Nandos to implement: Online ordering system: since the Nandos is major food restaurant, it does not have any online ordering system or telephone order system for the customers to order when they are at work or at home. It is not possible to everyone to come to the restaurant to eat in or take way. Some are older some are busy or the restaurtant are really far from home etc. If we could develop a e-commerce website which allows customer to buy online and we could deliver it to them as soon as possible it would definitely drive our sales at very huge level. Our main competitors for this area Pizzahut have these both online and telephone order service. The people who like Nandos and cannot come to the restaurant will opt for the service like this provided by our competitors. The investment and maintenance for a e-commerce website for Nandos may not cost more and the return on investment(ROI) could be get back easily as the sales come from online orders are solely because of website. Presently we have website for Nandos which gives the information about the Nandos available restaurant and their menus with their physical address. We can develop a website the offers online orders and we can integrate this to the already available website. Mobile application: as the technology rigorously increasing on day to day manner, the people using high end mobile phones is always on the high. Phone manufactures like Nokia, iPhone and Samsung offers third party applications to the mobile customers. If we could develop mobile application thus it features all available information yet briefly it would hugely improve the sales. If we could features restaurant addresses and online order facility it will be useful because the phone is always handy wherever the customer so he could check it and go to the nearest restaurant to his location. Software program: we could develop software solely for the purpose to gather critical information which needed to choose a site where we want to setup any additional restaurants by verifying the demographics and the distance to other available restaurants and customers information particularly related to food business. The program analyse the area and provides the detailed scenario about how many people lives there and their age group and any eating habits particularly they have. So that we could make decision depending on the information available. For this application to work out very well we need to get census data from government or third party providers or we may take out a survey which cost us a bit which is one time investment. We can also use the data mining techniques depend on the available data thus any already existed restaurant may affect our business or not. Inventory control: Every day there are lots of raw material comes in lots of material goes out in warehouse. If we use a n inventory management application we could easily track down the data available. Therefore we find out what type of item we have stock and what not we have. It helps us to order new material effectively. Thus we could reduce the food wastage. In a long run it could save several thousand pounds to the company. Communication communication between the head office to restaurants through e-mails etc. Etc. CRM software is very useful for this service. HR job recruitment: information technology is very useful when it comes recruit, emt and human resource management. We could advertise online for the vacancies we have and can accept application made online. Thus it reduces paper publicity cost and paper cost for the applications. Custom software could take all the tasks related to hr. Loyalty cards: to drive sales very high we introduce loyalty cards which allow regular customers to get free bees. We could offer them discount prices or occasional offers to them. And by adding this loyalty cards to the technology we could get the customer details so that we could plan them accordingly what they bought, what their age group etc. Etc. And we could send them promotional offers or discount coupons if we have their personal address or e-mail id. Information technology make out of home dining a more enjoyable experience for the customer and a more profitable manageable experience for business managers and owners. With the aid of Information technology we are not only able to stream line our business processes but we are also able to get constant information in real time that is up to the minute and up to date. In todays business environment we could consider IT as part of the Organization.
Brazilââ¬â¢s Developing Economy Essay -- Brazil Economy
In the current economic times the development and growth of any economy has come to a near stop or at least to a drastic slow down. The face of the global economic environment has changed and many new countries are starting to change the way their country and the rest of the world does business. One such nation is Brazil, who has turned around their own economic troubles and is becoming one of the fastest growing economies in the world (World Factbook). Brazil has started developing its economy and using the opportunity to achieve a level of respect in the world. Brazil is both the fifth largest country in the world based off of land size and population (World Factbook). Brazil has used this demographic as a strength in its efforts to find some sort of stability in a very unstable economic climate. Brazil is the largest national economy in Latin America the world's eighth largest economy at market exchange rates and the and 10 in purchasing power parity (PPP) or GDP, according to the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank (World Fact Book). There are many factors to the development of the Brazilian economy, each having an impact, but the development is not complete. Brazil has many developmental goals they have hoped to attain. Economic policy since the late 1960s has had three prime objectives: control of inflation, gradual improvement of the welfare of the poorest sector, and a high economic growth rate (Encyclopedia of Nations). Also there are the Millennium Development Goals set out by the United Nations to developing countries, such as, reducing poverty, increase education gender equality, reduce child mortality and improve maternal health, combat diseases, ensure environmental sustainability, and devel... ...d-the- nation%E2%80%99s-world-sanding-in-the-era-of-rousseff%E2%80%99s-rule/> "Millennium Development Goals: Brazil." Now and Then :: Technology Media Essays
Now and Then Once upon a time, there were friendly places near and far... Boy is that an understatement in today's society! Today's society depends upon fighting for you and you alone. Not caring what the other person wants, needs or deserves. Fifteen years ago a small community, such as the one Jen's grandmother lives in today, was very friendly. Small communities pulled together in times of need. If your neighbor ran out of sugar, she didnt care to come knocking on your door with a measuring cup, instead of going all the way to the store to get more, simply because you were her friend. In todays society, if you run out of sugar, you hop in your car and drive 25 minutes to get 5lb of sugar in order to drive 25 minutes back home. You dont know your neighbors, and your neighbors dont know you. There is no hope in wanting to know them and vice versa. Our society has changed drastically over the past twenty years. We have become an information society. Relying on our televisions, radios, and computers to obtain information that was once obtained by going to the local beauty parlor or stopping for a cup of coffee and chatting with the judge executive of your town. Cell phones have also become a major source of information. Instead of going out and having a nice serene sit on your front porch in the afternoon of a warm day, people would rather sit in front of their television and watch Oprah, Judge Judy, and The John Walsh Show. Could the reason that we dont leave our homes as much as we used to, be because of all the violence that today's society has brought with it? The local news on television has publicized roughly five murders in the past week. All these murders have been in the state. Is the television shaping societys view of the world, causing citizens to become couch potatoes? Television is one of the biggest society shaping effects that there is in todays world. There are various cable companies and numerous channels within each company. The view you take on life all depends on what channel you are going to watch on television. If you watch the presidential debate on one channel, that channel may make Mr. Snuggles, whose platform is terrific, and who is an all out good guy, look like a cruel and evil villain in a bad comic book, while another channel shows his true identity.

Need and Everyday Life Essay
Doing skills in everyday life allows us to meet our individual needs We can maintain support for our clients in their life by discussing their needs with them and how they wont to tackle them. I work in a unit for severe learning disabilities and we discuss with parents and the client what they would like to achieve Through the days we work with the clients for them to be able to fulfil their needs and activities. Working alongside them allows them to be able to complete their tasks themselves; this takes a more person centred approach. The clients also feel a sense of pride in what they have achieved and satisfaction. We could do the tasks for the clients and take away their choice it could lead to the clients having behaviour problems, also in the long term they will lose skills they have will not be able to learn or regain skills. 1. 2 Analyse reasons why individuals may need support to maintain, regain or develop skills for everyday life You may find that in different stages of life people will have different problems that affect skills for everyday life One of the clients I work with has autism and shows different variants during different times of the year At Christmas time his behaviour turned quite aggressive and everyday tasks took a lot long and needed a lot more support. He also needed the support to understand how the behaviour is not socially accepted. He attends college on a regular basis but as his social skills is quite limited because of his condition and during these times he requires more support from carers to be able to cope in the situation and carry on with the course he enjoys. As he is doing this on a regular basis and getting to know the people support is beginning to get less We also have to remind him about hygiene on a regular basis and are encouraging him to wash his own clothes and prepare his own food giving him the opportunity to live partially independently. At Christmas this skills were lost through his behaviour and he needed continual support to relearn them We also have clients that have physical disabilities as well as learning disabilities; to be able to develop skills for everyday life they require support. A lot go swimming and have learnt to swim but to be able to do this activity they need the support of carers to take them there and change them. 1. 3 Explain how maintaining, regaining or developing skills can benefit individuals In doing this it will help with the wellbeing of the individual. Physical wellbeing will mean the client is feed, are clean and tidy and this will lower the risk of infection making them healthy and happy. They will gain Psychological wellbeing which will give them increased confidence and will think better of themselves They gain emotional wellbeing; they will be happy and not have periods of depression Social wellbeing is something else that will be found they will be able to feel part of a community and belong By assisting in everyday tasks we are able to create a environment were the client has is happy and therefore promote wellbeing. 2. 3 Analyse possible sources of conflict that may arise When planning and ways to resolve them In our setting we share decision making with the individual and try to get them and their family included in the care and care planning. We do get problems sometimes however in the clients wishes and preferences. We have had an occurrence were an individual wanted to take apart appliances and put them back together again, this was dangerous to him and others around him, we did have to remove the appliances for his own safety. How ever since we have built up better relationships with him and learnt to understand his needs. He now goes to college on a course that allows him to do this. You may get individuals that want an activity that is not on their care plan or you might try to carry out something that the client does not want, these could result to a risk to the individual and others as the above example did. The best way to resolve this is by developing trusting relationships, mutual respect and negotiating other ways of doing things as we did with the college course. 3. 3 Describe actions to take if an individual becomes Distressed or unable to continue We do find that some of our clients become distressed during activities due to the nature of their problems. We can take a number of actions if this does occur We can offer reassurance to the person, communicating is important explaining that you understand and that they are safe. Praise their achievements in the task they are completing. We also have people on hand that can advise or assist in these situations. They one thing we always do is make sure the client is safe. We can also suggest to stop the activity with the client and take them away from the situation

Legal Compliance in the Distribution of Software Applications
Software piracy is a rising problem not only in the United States, but around the world. In 1993 worldwide software piracy cost 12. 5 billion dollars to the software industry, with a loss of 2. 2 billion dollars in the United States alone. Estimates show that over 40 percent of U. S. software company revenues are generated overseas, yet nearly 85 percent of the software industry's piracy losses occurred outside of the United States borders. The Software Publishers Association indicated that approximately 35 percent of the business software in the United States were obtained illegally, which 30 percent of the piracy occurs in corporate settings. In a corporate setting or business, every computer must have its own set of original software and the appropriate number of manuals. It is illegal for a corporation or business to purchase a single set of original software and than load that software onto more than one computer, or lend, copy or distribute software for any reason without the prior written consent of the software manufacturer. Many software managers are concerned with the legal compliance, along with asset management and costs at their organizations. Many firms involve their legal departments and human resources in regards to software distribution and licensing. In 1974, Congress created the Natural Commission on New Technological Uses (CONTU) to investigate whether the evolving computer technology field outpaced the existing copyright laws and also to determine the extent of copyright protection for computer programs. CONTU concluded that while copyright protection should extend beyond the literal source code of a computer program, evolving case law should determine the extent of protection. The commission also felt that copyright was the best alternative among existing intellectual property protective mechanisms, and CONTU rejected trade secret and patents as viable protective mechanisms. The CONTU report resulted in the 1980 Computer Software Act, and the report acts as informal legislative history to aid the courts in interpreting the Act. In 1980 The Copyright Act was amended to explicitly include computer programs. Title 17 to the United States Code states that it is illegal to make or to distribute copies of copyrighted material without authorization, except for the users right to make a single backup copy for archival purposes. Any written material (including computer programs) fixed in a tangible form is considered copyrighted without any additional action on the part of the author. Therefore, it is not necessary that a copy of the software program be deposited with the Copyright Office in Washington, D. C. for the program to be protected as copyrighted. With that in mind then a copyright is a property right only. In order to prevent anyone from selling your software programs, you must ask a federal court to stop that person by an injunction and to give you damages for the injury they have done to you by selling the program.
